Probably the best introduction to QED

I totally agree with the other reviewer: this is a treasure. If you want to understand what quantum electrodynamics is all about in practice, whether you are studying quantum chemistry or molecular physics or not, this is your book. It is a very nice companion volume to anyone studying advanced quantum mechanics and QED for the first time. A caveat, though: the treatment is noncovariant, so maybe people interested in high energy physics may find it "boring." Otherwise, highly recommended!

Not really a chemistry book or an introduction to QED

The book is good, but trying to go through it linearly would be difficult. Also, I'm not sure how one with a background in chemistry could get through this. It is generally pointed to a physicist interested in chem phys. I would recommend this to a student have a strong background in EM fields, QM, and some basic understanding of quantum optics or even QED from a treatment such as that by Greiner.
